After our Program Guest Speaker John Vick – Executive Director of the Andalusia Historic House, Gardens & Arboretum presented the long history of the site. Including the Big House, a stunning Greek Revival mansion built in 1797, and the extensive public gardens and arboretum.

We are excited to be Hosting A Bus Trip to the site.

Seed Starting 101

Have you ever wanted to start your own vegetable and flower plants from seed instead of buying them? Now is your chance to learn everything you need to know for a successful and bountiful harvest. Steven Frei, Penn State Master Gardener, will cover supplies, setup, seed starting mix, and the best varieties to choose from.  You’ll also learn about proper watering, fertilizing, and how to transplant your new plants in your garden. Additionally, we’ll share tips for mote experienced seed starters!

Good Guys and Bad Guys in the Garden

More than 2000 insects can thrive in the average garden ecosystem. Learn which insects are beneficial, which plants attract them, and how to get them to work for you while learning about invasive species that you don’s want and how to help control them.

Lori Metz is a horticulturist, landscape designer, owner of Carriage House Landscape Design, and a Penn State Master Gardener. Lori writes gardening and horticultural-related articles for various local papers and newsletters.
